GenØk and Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences, China sign a Memorandum of Understanding.

The Norwegian Institute of Gene Ecology and Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences, an Institution established under the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) enter into a five-year co-operation.

The main objectives of the MoU include the training and education of the Chinese scientists at Master and PhD levels, the reciprocal exchange of researchers between the two institutes, as well as taking measures towards the establishment of Gene Ecology Institute of Northeast Asia as a member of the Gateways institute network.

The Gateways Institute network aims for cooperation in biosafety research and capacity building in implementing the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety under the Convention of Biological Diversity.
