Conny Tümmler has a Diploma in Biology from the Universität Rostock (2006) with specialisation in Immunology, Biochemistry and Microbiology. Her Diploma thesis is about the influence of biodegradable magnesium stents on porcine primary cells and cultured porcine arteries. 

From November 2006 until December 2007 she worked as a principal engineer at the University of Tromsø in the Department of Microbiology and Virology. She worked primarily with issues regarding phosphorylation of the BK-virus agnoprotein. 

She also has experience in cell and tissue culturing, cell vitality and cell proliferation tests and a broad range of protein and DNA techniques such as Westernblots, Immunostaining, Coimmunoprzipitation, GST-pull down, PCR-based methods, cloning and so on.
